Frequently Asked QuestionsThe best
approach is to discuss concerns with your caregiver (supervisor/operator). If
the situation is not resolved and you believe the concerns are related to the
requirements or standards that the program must meet, contact the Ministry of
Children's Services office at 705-742-9292.
If a
person has reasonable grounds to suspect that a child is or may be in need of
protection, the person must promptly report the suspicion and the information
upon which it is based to the Children’s Aid Society.
To reach
the Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Aid Society, please call 705-743-9751.
The Day
Nurseries Act requires that any premise be licensed that receives more than
five children under the age of 10 years, not of common parentage (children who
have different parents), for temporary care and guidance.
An
individual may provide informal child care to five children or less under the
age of 10 years who are not of common parentage (children who have different
parents), in addition to his/her own children, without a licence.
There are
no regulations under the Day Nurseries Act which are specific to
informal, unlicensed child care.
